Work Hours: work up to 25 hours per week

Position Summary:  The overall purpose of this job is to be the front line/first contact for current students, prospective students, and visitors.  We assist with the admissions processes from beginning to end, including, but not limited to:  Application process, advising of and assisting with holds, making any applicable testing appointments, making advising appointments, MyPellissippi navigation, making new student orientation appointments, assisting with Financial Aid application process, checking outstanding requirements, and advising of Financial Aid statuses.  As the first contact for current students, we help students get in contact with professors or administrators, advise on policies and general information.  For visitors and all others, we advise on school and community events.

Duties and Responsibilities:

55%  Answering every call coming into the college main line in a timely manner.  Attempting to answer question on every subject pertaining to Pellissippi State without transferring including but not limited to:  explaining enrollment and financial aid processes to prospective students; explaining MyPellissippi navigation; scheduling advising and testing appointments and registering students for New Student Orientation.

10%  Respond to Start Strong e-mails in a timely manner. Attempting to answer question on every subject pertaining to Pellissippi State including but not limited to:  explaining enrollment and financial aid processes to prospective students; explaining MyPellissippi navigation; scheduling advising and testing appointments and registering students for New Student Orientation.

10%  Respond to Start Strong chats in a timely manner. Attempting to answer question on every subject pertaining to Pellissippi State including but not limited to:  explaining enrollment and financial aid processes to prospective students; explaining MyPellissippi navigation; scheduling advising and testing appointments and registering students for New Student Orientation.

10%  Assist students at in-person counter when necessary. Attempting to answer question on every subject pertaining to Pellissippi State including but not limited to:  explaining enrollment and financial aid processes to prospective students; explaining MyPellissippi navigation; scheduling advising and testing appointments and registering students for New Student Orientation.

10%  Utilize Banner, Student Database, to assist students with their accounts and explain how to maneuver through their student portal.

5%    Assist interested parties with information about community and college events.

Required Qualifications: 

High School diploma and some experience in either customer service, higher education, or call center.  This job consists of mostly on the job training.  High School diploma and some experience in customer service, higher education, or call center.

(Part-time work experience is calculated at 50% credit of full-time work experience)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Work Characteristics:

Customer service, ability to multitask effectively, computer competency and ability to quickly learn new systems.  Research experience and prompt decision making skills are needed.  Having a second language would be considered an asset but not required.  Knowledge of the following policies is required for this position:
