Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC) recognize and evaluate sports injuries. They provide first aid or emergency care; develop and carry out rehabilitation programs for injured athletes; and plan and implement comprehensive programs to prevent injury among athletes. Athletic trainers collaborate with medical doctors to provide emergency and follow-up care. They provide a vital communication link between the injured athlete, the physician, the coach, and the athlete’s family to determine when the athlete can safely return to practice and competition.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Clinical:

  • Provides athletic training services to area recreational groups, schools, and other organization as assigned
  • Assist with Saturday morning clinics
  • Assist with planning and implementing pre-season physicals for athletes
  • Remains competent in the following areas:
  • Modalities such as heat, cold, ultrasound, and electrotherapy
  • Therapeutic exercise
  • First Aide
  • Attends and provides continuing education in servicing
  • Serves as mentor for new employee(s) or volunteers
  • Serves as clinical supervisor for student athletic trainers while completing their hours
    Budget:
  • Assist with maintaining an accurate inventory of sports medicine supplies and remaining within the monthly supply budget
  • Charges patients appropriately and in a timely manner for treatment and equipment
    Other:
  • Must be competent in use of computer for documentation and charging purposes
  • Must provide own transportation
