Press Supervisor

The Omaha World-Herald, a Lee Enterprises, Inc. paper is seeking a full-time Press Supervisor, who is responsible for quality, timely and smooth nightly press operations, which print multiple Lee Enterprises newspapers for the region. Operations include producing print products according to specification and within deadlines. Press operations also include setting up press equipment, press maintenance, loading reels with newsprint, make pasters, monitor reel units, set ink densities and registrations, operate folding machines, assist in the plate room and ensure safety regulations are followed.

This position primarily works evenings and nights, which may include weekends and holidays. The flexibility to work other shifts, including afternoon production and safety meetings, is required.

Coaching and mentoring new employees in the operation of our press will be key to continued success.

Requirements:
  • Previous press experience with a background in newspaper production and a comprehensive understanding of the offset printing process and web press operations.
  • Should have prior experience on web presses (Goss, KBA, ManRoland, etc.) and able to adapt that understanding to our Goss Urbanite Press operation.
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and skills
  • Demonstration of professional conduct
  • Demonstration of cooperative behavior with co-workers
  • Capable of setting priorities and attention to detail
  • Can communicate orally both in person and on the phone
  • Can interact and remain focused while dealing with multiple objectives
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, and multiplication)
  • Must work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work independently
  • Physical ability to lift up to 70 pounds
