The Parent Child Health Programs Administration within Public Health Seattle & King County is seeking a Career Service, Social Worker Senior to join our team!

The Senior Social Worker will act as lead to staff providing various professional social work services to King County clients and their families. The incumbent will train staff, plan and facilitate the provision of First Step Services, assist staff with complex or difficult cases, and provide clinical supervision to social workers in Parent Child Health (PCH) programs with varying degrees and theoretical orientations.

The Senior Social Worker provides technical expertise, consultation, training, quality improvement, and overall coordination of Parent Child Health-related activities for and with direct service Public Health providers and their teams, and community providers throughout King County and Public Health - Seattle & King County. The position requires program and subject matter expert consultation, which includes program recommendations, data analysis, quality improvement, needs assessments, and supporting program planning and implementation. The position also requires practice, program, and subject matter expertise for the PCH programs, including First Steps Services - Maternity Support Services & Infant Case Management.

This position requires a licensed independent clinical social worker or licensed mental health counselor who has at least 2 years' experience working with pregnant or parenting families, and is an Approved Clinical Supervisor in social work.

The Parent Child Health Senior Social Worker position provides a unique opportunity to apply and/or expand one's social work clinical supervision, program and project management, and quality improvement skills in public health's field of parent-child health in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team and setting.
About Community Health Services' Parent Child Health (PCH) Administration:

Community Health Services' Parent Child Health (PCH) Administration team is a multi-disciplinary team supporting and ensuring the integrity of services provided through a variety of parent-child health programs. The Senior Social Worker will work alongside a team comprised of a dietitian, Epic electronic health record experts, community health worker leads, and nurses that support the First Steps - Maternity Support Services & Infant Case Management, Children with Special Health Care Needs, Epic, and various other maternal-child health programs. These programs are comprised of over 60 supervisors, administrative staff, community health workers, dietitians, nurses, and social workers serving families across King County.

Work Location:

The primary office location for this position is the 10th floor of the Chinook Building at 401 5th Ave., Seattle, WA 98104.

The work performed in this position will be performed through a combination of telecommuting and onsite work at both the Chinook Building and throughout King County Public Health Centers. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.

Employees will be provided with a County-issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.
Work Schedule:

This Career Service position works primarily Monday through Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. Hours may vary based on business need.

Job Duties

  • Promote and support advancement of racial equity and social justice across Parent Child Health programs and services.
  • Provide clinical consultation, support, and clinical supervision for Public Health social workers.
  • Provide social work subject matter expertise as needed by the department for recruitment, hiring, and credentialing of social work staff.
  • Lead staff development and in-service training efforts for social work staff.
  • Liaison to various community agencies regarding social work services and resources for clients.
  • As a Parent Child Health liaison, monitor program compliance, provide program support to direct service teams and supervisors, and engage in quality assurance activities to ensure program integrity, in particular for the First Steps - Maternity Support Services & Infant Case Management program and the Epic electronic health record.
  • Ensure trainings, activities, and procedures adhere to program guidelines and maximize availability, accessibility, acceptability, and quality of services that are responsive, equitable, and client-centered.
  • Gather, analyze and disseminate Parent Child Health data.
  • Join program team in opportunities to raise awareness of gaps in services for marginalized families and children and increase collaboration with a goal of improving systems of care.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff and the program team as part of the administrative team providing training, staff orientation, and technical assistance to Public Health staff as well as community partners.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement strategies for pregnant people, caregivers, infants, and children impacted by adverse childhood experiences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

  • Master's degree in Social Work or Behavioral Health from an accredited university.
  • Licensed as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Mental Health Counselor for at least two years.
  • At least two-years' experience working with pregnant or parenting families as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Mental Health Counselor.
  • Approved Clinical Supervisor having satisfied the following criteria: Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Mental Health Counselor for at least two years and in good standing, 25 supervised hours supervising social workers, and 15 hours continuing education units in supervision.
  • Experience providing clinical consultation, support, and supervision to social workers.
  • Experience developing social work staff, providing in-service training to social work staff.
  • Demonstrated abilities in providing counseling and case management in a health or social service setting, particularly with high-risk maternal-child health clients of low income; multi-lingual; multi-ethnic; and multi-cultural populations.
  • Demonstrated ability working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Skilled in providing short-term therapy, group therapy, and consultation.
  • Demonstrated ability in a leadership and supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Public Health relies on office automation (Microsoft Office) and web-based enabled tools, therefore candidates must be proficient and comfortable with computer use to perform functions associated with on-going work.
  • Experience using an electronic medical record to provide/document patient/client care.
  • Regular and reliable attendance, effective communication skills, and development of effective working relationships are requirements of all Public Health positions.
  • The candidate must possess a valid Washington State driver's license or have the ability to travel throughout King County in a timely manner.
  • Documentation of current Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification with AED training required at time of hire. CPR/AED Heartsaver courses do not meet this requirement.
