About The City of Jacksonville Police Department
The Jacksonville Police Department is staffed with forty sworn officers and a civilian staff of four. The Jacksonville Police Department serves a population of just under 20,000 people, which inflates to a much larger population than recorded, due to being the home of Illinois College, The Illinois School for the Deaf, The Illinois School for the Visually Impaired and the Jacksonville Correctional Center.
The mission of the Jacksonville Police Department (JPD) is to enforce and uphold all federal and state statutes and municipal ordinances in accordance with the United States Constitution. The JPD serves to prevent and detect crime, protect life and property, and to achieve a peaceful community free from the fear of crime and disorder.
