The Office of Intellectual Property Management (OIPM) works with the recently established Tulane Innovation Institute to protect and advance the intellectual property created by faculty and researchers across the university. OIPM executes all aspects of Tulane’s intellectual property (IP) policy, including patent filing and management, agreement preparation, IP due diligence, government reporting and compliance, and identifying IP prospects for disclosure from the Tulane community. In addition, OIPM provides IP education seminars to Tulane faculty and students. These functions support Tulane’s Institute for Innovation, which is responsible for technology assessment, business development, marketing, and license negotiation.
Tulane University is seeking an Intellectual Property (IP) Coordinator to support the Office of Intellectual Property Management and deliver technology transfer and commercialization support services to Tulane faculty, staff, students, and external partners. This position will report to the Innovation Associates and the Executive Director of OIPM and will work directly with internal staff, outside counsel, sponsors, licensees, entrepreneurs, and inventors to move technology to market. This position is primarily responsible for the management and maintenance of the intellectual property portfolio and its associated compliance reporting.
The IP Coordinator will implement processes and procedures to ensure diligent stewardship of Tulane’s intellectual property portfolio. The position will ensure no intellectual property prosecution deadlines are missed and that inventions and IP are reported timely. The position will provide superior customer service when interacting with research teams and inventors, administrators, and governmental and non-governmental partners and ensure that accurate and complete information is shared.
