Job Description

  • Essential Functions:
    List major areas of responsibility and briefly what the person does in each area.
  • Programming- Defines, designs, evaluates, tests, and implements user requested changes to system matrices. Write programming code (VBA, Crystal Report, SQL etc.) for retrieval of data from various information systems.
  • Information Management- Designs analytical tools to provide analysis of financial and clinical systems information.
  • Support-Provides education and support to managers and end users in the process of data retrieval and reporting. Assists with education and support of end users across service line and system, as needed.
  • Financial- Compiles and maintains statistical information necessary to meet service line and system financial and performance goals. This includes performance metrics, revenue, expenses, and reimbursement.
  • Administrative- Provides high level administrative support for the System Vice President, NMMC President, and NMHS Chief Operating Officer
  • Communication- Answers, screens, directs incoming and outgoing calls, communicates with internal and external customers via oral communication, electronic communication, and/or written communication.
  • Employee relations- Handle’s information of sensitive or confidential nature in a professional manner and has the ability to interact tactfully and diplomatically with personnel concerning situations of a sensitive nature.
  • Record Keeping/Reporting- Prepares, maintains, and files appropriate administrative records and documents, keeps minutes for various committees  including NMHS and NMMC boards, maintains statistical data and scorecards, and assists with legal contract and agreement requests and entries into Ntracts for service line and NMHS system.
  • Education/Training- Educates/trains applicable personnel in determining the appropriate CPT code for services rendered and on coding guidelines/medical policies to promote compliance with federal, state, and insurance carrier guidelines for increased reimbursement.
  • Regulatory- Adheres to NMHS policies/procedures/guidelines and complies with JCHAO and HIPAA regulations and guidelines.
    Job Knowledge:
    Specify required education, licensure/certification, prior experience, skill, behavior, equipment operation, type and duration of on-the-job training, patient population to be served, etc.
  • Associates degree in Health Information and Information Mgmt. or Computer Programming; required Bachelor in Business or related field, preferred.
  • +3 years’ experience as Executive or Administrative Assistant; preferred.
  • ICD-9/CPT/HCPCS Coding Experience; preferred.
  • Extensive working knowledge of VBA, Crystal Reports, SQL, and Microsoft Office Software Applications including Access and Excel is required.
  • 1 year experience working in the electronic health/information system environment required.
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work with intricate details, figures, and large volumes of data.
  • Must possess strong clerical and organizational skills; required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; required
  • Working knowledge of computer hardware/software; required
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; required
  • Proficient in the use of various office equipment; required
  • Excellent organizational skills
