Master Electrician

South Plains Electric Cooperative, Inc.

Job Summary:

As a Master Electrician, your primary responsibility will be to oversee and execute electrical projects, ensuring that all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable codes and regulations. You will be responsible for supervising an apprentice electrician, providing technical guidance, and ensuring the successful completion of electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead is essential for this role.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Electrical Project Management:
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate electrical projects from start to finish.
  • Review project specifications, blueprints, and other technical documents to determine the scope of work and required materials.
  • Develop project schedules and allocate resources effectively to meet deadlines and budgetary constraints.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations.
  1. Supervision and Leadership:
  • Supervise and provide technical guidance to apprentices.
  • Assign tasks, set performance expectations, and conduct regular performance evaluations.
  • Provide training and mentorship to apprentice linemen to enhance their technical skills and knowledge.
  • Foster a positive work environment, promote safety, and encourage teamwork among team electricians.
  1. Electrical Installation and Maintenance:
  • Perform electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance in commercial and industrial settings.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems and equipment to identify and resolve malfunctions or issues.
  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical components such as wiring, switches, outlets, and circuit breakers.
  • Ensure that all electrical work meets quality standards and is completed within specified timeframes.
  1. Compliance and Safety:
  • Stay updated on current electrical codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct inspections and audits to ensure electrical systems and installations comply with safety standards.
  • Identify potential safety hazards and take appropriate corrective actions.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal regulations.
  1. Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of electrical work, including project documentation, permits, and inspection reports.
  • Prepare progress reports, work orders, and cost estimates for projects.
  • Provide timely updates to management regarding project status, issues, and resolutions.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Master Electrician license or certification.
  • Extensive experience as an electrician, with a focus on electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and regulations.
  • Proven ability to lead and supervise effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to work in various environments and conditions.
