Summary:
The Stealth Station is a hardware platform that enables real time surgical navigation using radiological patient images. The application software reformats patient specific CT or MRI images acquired before surgery, or fluoroscopic images acquired during surgery and displays them on-screen from a variety of perspectives (axial, sagittal, coronal and oblique). Prior to operating the surgeon may create, store and simulate progression along one or more surgical trajectories. As an aid to visualization, the surgeon may also create and manipulate one or more 3D models of anatomy. During surgery the system tracks.The primary role of this position is preparation of the navigation equipment prior to the procedure, assisting and troubleshooting equipment problems during the surgical procedure and post procedure care of the equipment. The person responsible will also maintain competency and fulfill all responsibilities in the OR Assistant job . Two OR Assistants will be trained to fulfill this role. The OR Navigation Tech will possess a high school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities:
Pre-Op1. Notify CT to send up images.2. Load CT images on to the navigation system.3. Review film for adequate number of slices so MD can make full 3D images.4. Notify CT/MD if applicable.Day of Surgery/Intra-Op1. Prepare/confirm navigation equipment and instruments needed for procedure are in place.2. Connect equipment to the computer assisted surgery system.3. Prepare and attach the patient reference (tracker) to the head frame.4. Assist in placing the head frame on the center of the patient’s forehead and verify it is securely attached.5. Connect patient tracker cable to navigation system.6. Place the mobile emitter on the OR table appropriately and verify instrumentation location.7. Assist MD to register the patient by matching the patient’s exam to the patient’s anatomy (landmarks).8. Troubleshoot system as needed during operation procedure.Post-Procedure1. Shuts down machine2. Cleans equipment with hospital approved disinfectant.3. Stores appropriately.
