Bus Driver / Mechanic
8 hours daily, 12-month position.

The Bus Driver/Mechanic is responsible for safely transporting students or passengers while maintaining school buses and other vehicles in safe, reliable operating condition. Duties include driving assigned routes, conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and ensuring compliance with applicable transportation and safety regulations. The position performs routine maintenance, preventive servicing, and mechanical repairs, including work on engines, brakes, tires, electrical systems, and other vehicle components. Responsibilities also include diagnosing mechanical problems, maintaining accurate service records, reporting vehicle defects, and coordinating repairs as needed. The Bus Driver/Mechanic ensures vehicles are clean, fueled, and ready for daily operation. Additional duties may include assisting with emergency repairs, maintaining shop equipment, and supporting transportation department operations. Candidates should demonstrate strong mechanical skills, safe driving practices, reliability, and attention to detail. A valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements and relevant mechanical experience are required or preferred, depending on employer qualifications.
