Qualifications: Lerner Tower 4 is a unit dedicated to the care of patients with Neurological and Neurosurgical diagnoses. The unit offers 3 levels of care including intermediate, telemetry and floor. Our Neuroscience Nurses are skilled in helping patients and families manage new diagnoses and sometimes uncertain futures related to their neurologic condition. The neuro intermediate care unit (NIU) provides a unique level of care for patients - higher level of care than the tele/floor, but less acute than the care provided in an ICU. Patient diagnoses cross the neurological spectrum including all levels of stroke and patients with intracerebral and subarachnoid hemorrhages, neuromuscular disease, epilepsy and rare neurologic illness such as prion disease. Many of the Neuroscience patients have medical co-morbidities including diabetes and hypertension. LT4 is a recipient of the Beacon Award for Excellence from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. Position Requirements:
Thorough knowledge of nursing process and practice. Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed medical therapies (i.e. stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers and electronic monitoring devices.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. Minimum of Diploma/Associate's Degree in nursing from accredited program.
License Requirements:
An Ohio RN license is not required to be considered for this position. If selected to move forward, employment offers may be made contingent on candidate successfully obtaining RN license within time frame discussed at the time of offer acceptance.
Current BLS Provider Certification, issued by the American Heart Association, must be obtained during Nursing Orientation.
Preferred Qualifications:
BSN preferred.
